Whaler #1124 Ocean View

This unit is a good value for double sided views of the west Maui mountains and the ocean/Black Rock. It's right in the middle of Kaanapali Beach with easy access to shops, restaurants, and a great walking path. The condo is equipped with everything you'd need for a week's vacation like we had.

We were so impressed with the Whaler 1124 furnishings, comforts, and views. The only surprises were good ones, and we had a fun time on the property and in the restaurants, shops and ocean.

Loved this place and location. Had everything we needed and great views. Would stay again. Recommend that a new mattress be but based for the king as it is sagging and the ac unit from next door is notable but everything else is just amazing!

We were very happy with having 1124 as our home base on Maui. We'd been to Maui twice before, but this was our first time with kids. We'd stayed at the Sheraton and the KBH next door previously, but this was our favorite stay. The wrap-around lanai was amazing. The unit was clean and well-stocked. The Whaler is in a perfect location on Ka'anapali Beach. A few details that may be helpful to other renters:
- There is both a drip coffee maker and a Keurig in the unit. Also a blender and toaster. The only thing we found missing that would have been helpful was a metal spatula for the ground floor grills.
- The unit has 2 beach chairs in the closet, and a shade umbrella. We left some floaties, too. Boogie boards are available to rent just outside of the Whaler for $15 per day or $35 per week.
-The unit has a few (looked like 2-3) self-inflating air mattresses to use as beds. Works great in situations like ours where two kids sleeping on the same pull-out bed would be mayhem, or doing up the pull-out bed each day is inconvenient.
- The second door to the hallway was very convenient. After the kids went to bed in the main room, we used the other door to bring things in from the car, etc, without waking them.
Overall, I would absolutely book this unit again when we go back to Maui. Mahalo for the wonderful stay!

Aloha! We had a fantastic time staying at 1124 West orchid. We had stayed at the whaler before, but the views from this room were outstanding. We really loved staying here. We have a teenage daughter and sleeping on the pull out couch was no problem, she said that it was very comfortable! Probably one of the best vacations we’ve ever been on in Maui!! We have been to Maui quite a few times, and we didn’t rent a car on this visit or our last visit. The bus system on the island is fantastic :-) So, we just hung out around Lahaina and Ka’annapali beach area and it was very relaxing. Although, the bus system goes over most of the island and that’s how we got around most of the time. This unit was perfect for us, nicely decorated, and very pragmatic. It’s a very nice rental unit. Anyway, being directly on Ka’annapali and being able to grill your own food or cook in the kitchen is a great way to go if you are wanting to be frugal. Of course, we did go out for dinners and some happy hours, but it was nice to be able to grill on the ocean front in the evenings with a good group of people down there it became fun like a little party :-) All being said, we hope to possibly be fortunate enough to rent this unit again. We had a blast!! I want to add that all of the staff, and the groundskeeper’s keep the place looking outstanding!! Everyone at the whaler goes above and beyond and they worked very hard!

Easy and wonderful

This place exceeded our expectations in so many ways. We came here for our honeymoon, and this room was absolutely perfect. The balcony was HUGE and wrapped around the building. We loved having a corner room with the BEST view. Excellent location. The room was also huge and stocked with plenty of towels, hairdryers, kitchen things, and pretty much everything you need. The room was spotless clean, bed was comfortable, and we loved the mirrors! We could not have had a better room. Whaler #1124 is the best as well as the entire Whaler itself. Staff made us feel welcome as soon as we walked it. Check in and everything was a breeze. We would love to come back!

The view is amazing! We had a lovely stay. 5-stars.

Most of the time we spent on the beaches around the area, so when we were on the wrap-around lanai the low din of the building fan from the building next door wasn't that big a deal.

The linens were clean, and there were PLENTY of extra plush clean towels (you have to look in the lower bathroom drawers or closets.

Kitchen was great.

Very clean. I do recommend for the sake of not looking dated that the owners replace the bed coverlet. It was clean, but really seemed dated compared to the rest of the place.

I would stay here again. Very responsive staff.

One week trip to Maui, this location is perfect. Loved being on the beach, walking to restaurants in Whaler's Village, quick trips to Lahaina for restaurants and groceries. Also were multiple excursions that leave from Kaanapali beach, so we could walk to those as well. Free parking in garage under the Whaler.
The unit had 2 beach chairs, umbrella, 3 boogie boards, 2 hard sided coolers, and some snorkel gear. This was so convenient and we used those items daily.
Loved the wrap around balcony, we watched every sunrise and sunset from there. Huge sliding glass doors (with sliding screen doors to protect against insects) made the unit feel so open and breezy. Then we used AC at night to sleep.
So nice to have a kitchen for some groceries, given its too expensive to eat out for every meal. Felt clean, safe. We would stay here again.

Great place., covid rules sucks!!

Our condo at the Whaler was a great home base. We loved the views on two sides of the condo. It was located a short walk from the Whaler Villages shopping area and several restaurants.

The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed to make several meals. The condo also came with beach chairs and coolers perfect for the beach. The bedroom was great, the bed was comfortable with direct access to the lanai.

The only issues were the initial communication and the pull out sleeper sofa. We booked through VRBO and no one responded to any messages we sent, even to confirm the receipt of the rental agreement. I had to call and verify. Also, the sofa bed broke the first night we arrived and had to jerry rig it to work the remainder of the nights. The management company was unable to fix it and was unable to replace it during our stay.

Awesome location and views. Unit has everything for a great vacation. Nicely equipped and maintained unit and property. Comfortable bed and sleeping sofa. Management is easy to reach out and very responsive on requests.
