Maui's Mildest Beaches
Whether you are vacationing on Maui for your romantic getaway or you are on a family vacation, it should be helpful for you to know which beaches have the gentlest conditions. If you are looking for relaxing tranquility or just a safe place for your kids to play in the water, read on.
While the South Shore of Maui is generally the calm side, depending on weather conditions, there are also some mellow beaches on the North Shore. West Maui is also generally mild, and that is where you will find our vacation rental accommodations. Here is our list of Maui's mildest beaches:
West Maui
Launiupoko Beach Park is not only tranquil thanks to a rock wall enclosing a tidal pool, but there are also some good beginner surfing conditions for both adults and kids beyond that wall. It may sound a bit rough, but you'll see for yourself that the conditions are quite nice, no matter what you plan to do, provided of course that we aren't experiencing off weather. You'll find this beach just a few miles south of Lahaina at mile marker 18. Baby Beach is another great one for kids, featuring plenty of nice, shallow, sandy areas. You'll find it just north of Front Street in Lahaina, and there is parking on Kai Pali Street.
South Maui
If you feel like a nice jaunt out to South Maui, it's just a bit over a half-hour drive from our Lahaina vacation rentals to Kihei. In south Kihei, you will find Kamaole Beach Park I, II & III. They are ideal for swimming and there are some lovely tide pools to explore. As far as the facilities, there are showers, bathrooms and, most importantly, lifeguards. Kalepolepo Beach is another gem. It was once a part of a native Hawaiian village, and there is an old fishpond that is now a fun little wading pool. This beach is nestled safely between two seawalls, which make for excellent protection from currents and waves. This one is located on Piilani Highway in Kihei.
North Shore Maui
Lastly, if you want to experience the other side of the island, which includes some of the most famous surfing and windsurfing beaches in the world, there is one place in particular that is nice and mild. The "Baby" Beach is located on the western end of Baldwin Beach Park, and it is not to be confused with West Maui's "Baby Beach." This one includes a protective reef offshore that keeps waves and currents under control.
That concludes our list of Maui's mildest beaches! We hope you have found it interesting and informative. If you are still looking for your Maui vacation rental accommodations, we can assist you. You'll find our contact information at the bottom of the page. Mahalo!
